Covid-19 in Bengal: Test capacity set to double

With two private hospitals — Apollo Gleneagles Hospital and Tata Medical Centre — receiving the nod to test samples of Covid-19 suspects, the city’s capacity to test samples is set to double in the next one week. While NICED, IPGMER and North Bengal and Midnapore Medical Colleges are already conducting tests, School of Tropical Medicine in Kolkata is set to start on Monday. Each of these centres can handle 30-40 samples a day. At present, 50-60 samples are being collected on an average per day.
