Cable subscription charges drop in Kolkata

Prices of several pay channels, including leading entertainment and sports ones, have been dropped by broadcasters, leading to a slash in cable TV subscription rates across Kolkata. At least one MSO has reduced its channel prices for customers subscribing on an a la carte basis. Package prices, however, are to be revised. The price drop comes as a huge relief for viewers who have been forced to shell out more for pay channels since the new subscription system came into effect from February 1.
