Onion price dips below government subsidy rate in West Bengal

The onion retail price on Tuesday dropped to Rs 50 per kg — the price prevailed just before the festive season in September. The price, which ‘burnt a hole in pockets’ back then, is now thought to be a respite. The onion price is expected to plunge further with Bengal’s own production hitting the market shortly.
