Tallah closure: Traffic chokes north Kolkata

On the first day of the Tallah Bridge shutdown vast parts of north Kolkata were choked with traffic snarls. As earth-moving machines were put to work on the Shyambazar-bound flank of Tallah Bridge, the cars in the area barely managed to inch forward — with the snarls stretching almost a kilometre at times. The travel time doubled or tripled even for short distances.
