Swapna Kar, a 75-year-old resident of Laha Colony in north Kolkata, was worried when she stepped out to buy medicines for her husband suffering from stomach ache. She was in for a pleasant surprise. A group of Kolkata Municipal Corporation health workers who were conducting a fever survey volunteered to fetch the medicines and spared her the trouble of walking the distance. A civic worker also handed Kar a contact number of a KMC medical officer for consultation.
