CM’s Puja dole, sops soothe organizers’ nerves

Months of anxiety and worry came to an end on Thursday evening when CM Mamata Banerjee announced a grant of Rs 50,000 to each registered Durga Puja organizer. For 2,000-odd para Pujas that operate on a shoe-string budget, organizing this year’s Puja was proving a major challenge in the absence of advertisements and difficulties in collecting subscriptions from households struggling with reduced income.
