Kolkata traders fear further price rise of onions

Pricey onion returned to haunt Kolkatans on Tuesday with its retail price soaring to Rs 50 a kg. Worse, market sources has predicted a further rise in the next few days keeping in mind the demand-supply gap if the Centre does not release onions from its reserve stock of 80 lakh lying with National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) to bridge the gap.
