Kol Police sergeant helps nail case under Pocso

In what was probably the first investigation carried out by a Kolkata Police sergeant under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act, a 28-year-old man was sentenced to five years rigorous imprisonment for aggravated sexual assault of a seven-year-old girl, who is a relative. Sumit Biswas alias Babai will also have to pay a fine of Rs 20,000. The court also directed the state to pay the child a compensation of Rs 4 lakh.
