Ultadanga flyover to remain shut on December 1

Both flanks of the Ultadanga flyover will be shut next Sunday — December 1 — from 6am to 10pm to allow a Benkelman beam deflection (BBD) study to ascertain the strength of the bridge. In a communication from KMDA and Kolkata traffic police, commuters coming from EM Bypass have been asked to use the Hudco-Durgapur Bridge-Lake Town alignment. Those going the other way have been asked to use the reverse alignment to enter the city. Police sources said commuters from the airport can also use the newly constructed Bailey bridge into Salt Lake to bypass Ultadanga.
