Kol: Dead fish, turtle surface a day after Chhath

Dead fish and a turtle were found floating in the lake water on Monday, a day after Chhath Puja celebrations at Rabindra Sarobar. If someone thought it to be just a coincidence, a scientific study has unravelled that the water quality has taken a hit at the lake. The sample collected at 6pm on Sunday — 10 hours after Chhath rituals were over — found lower dissolved oxygen and higher content of oil and grease in the water, along with a very high count of total suspended solid.
