Kolkata: Fake note seizures peaked in 2019

It is not often that Kolkata Police seizes over a crore of fake Indian currency in a single year. But the Special Task Force did exactly that in 2019 — the seizures was almost 1.5 times that of 2018 and around six times that of 2017. The face value of total seized notes stood at Rs 1,00,63,000 as against Rs 64,46,000 in 2018 and Rs 17,26,000 in 2017.
