A section of Bowbazar evacuees still at hotels

It’s been a little more than a 100 days since Subir Dutta, 65, and his family came to live in a CR Avenue hotel. Their building at 6B, Durga Pithuri Lane, was damaged beyond repair when a tunnel boring machine (TBM) hit an aquifer on the East-West Metro route, resulting in a cave-in at Bowbazar on August 31. Thereafter, several other buildings started tiling, some collapsed and around 700 residents from Durga Pithuri Lane, Shyakrapara Lane, Gour De Lane and BB Ganguly Street were evacuated in the next two days.
