WB govt to tackle onion ‘century’ via ration shops

The state government plans to sell 467 tonnes of onion — in the news for crossing Rs 100 per kilo — in fair-price (ration) shops in Kolkata and its surroundings. The decision comes five years after the government attempted to sell potato at Rs 12 a kilo from public distribution outlets.
